Year-long Rooms Temporarily Disabled
There have been a handful of reports over the past few months of rooms set to expire in a year closing early. Unfortunately, once a room is closed, there is no way to retrieve the data; it’s gone forever. To avoid users unexpectedly losing data, I’ve temporarily disabled year-long rooms.
Unfortunately this is a very difficult issue to diagnose, owing to the long times involved. Users don’t always check rooms very frequently, so early-closing reports range from a few weeks after opening the room to a few months. So far, my efforts to find a root cause have been fruitless.
I do hope to address this issue very soon and re-enable year-long rooms, but I won’t do it before I’m confident that users will not lose data.

Can you tell me the longest a room can remain in use now? I tried to open a room for 2 months at a time, but it appears one month is the longest we can create. Is that correct?
Thanks.

Thank you very much for addressing this!! I was of course confused when some of our year-long rooms had vanished! Todaysmeet is a tool that helps many many teachers connect- I do hope the bug is found so we may return to year-long rooms- thanks!!
Is there a way- or perhaps there could be in the future- to download the transcript? At this point, I screenshot, yet for long convos, it’s not always the best option.
MANY thanks for this fabulous tool- and all you do!

@Ricki – The longest duration is currently one month. I do hope to restore the year-long rooms soon.
@Jill – I’m so sorry that happened. The best way to download the transcript is to use the built-in “Save Page” feature of whatever browser you’re using. Eventually I would like to add better options for saving and printing transcripts.
